When it comes to swimming, we’ve got everything you need to suit all
ages with our four swimming pools, a range of aqua classes and our Swim4Life
lesson programme (we use the latest technology to allow you to check your child’s progress online via the home portal).
We offer a variety of public session’s across our four swimming pools from early morning swim, lunchtime lengths to inflatable fun sessions. We also offer a wide range of aqua classes to suit every need and ability. As well as the more traditional aqua fit classes, we provide aqua circuit, aqua jog and even the ultimate aqua dance experience in the Zumba pool party!
So whether it’s a swim, fun session or aqua class you want, we’ve got swimming covered. The great news is that as part of our aspirations fitness memberships you get public swimming included along with full use of our 7 gyms and over 120 fitness classes per week across our centres. If it’s just swimming you want we even offer a swim only membership (Swim4It) so come on and take the plunge.
Swimming is the perfect activity for people of all ages and abilities, it's cost-effective, and has a wide range of both physical and psychological benefits.
The most obvious advantage to swimming is that it's a great form of exercise. Around 30 minutes of steady, paced lane swimming can burn over 200 calories, and brings the same benefits as 45 minutes of land-based exercise; the pressure and resistance of the water makes your body work harder.
As well as burning calories, swimming is great for toning up as it works the muscles all over your body. And as the water takes your weight, it is a perfect method of low-impact exercise that is ideal for people with mobility problems, and those who just wish to protect their joints.
Swimming can also improve your overall health. It's an ideal workout for your heart and circulation, as you are using your whole body to swim; therefore your heart has to pump blood harder than it normally would to your arms and legs. Additionally, length swimming is great for your lungs as it forces you to breathe in a deeper, more rhythmic fashion.
Telford and Wrekin Leisure Services host the 4 biggest swimming pools within Telford. All our pools are 25 metres long and are great for improving fitness through swimming as well as enjoying your leisure time.
