We are delighted to announce that from Monday 17 May 2021 we are able to reopen our remaining centres including the Telford Ice Rink.

Following the reopening of our centres we have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback we received from our members as to how safe they felt in our facilities. If you are still not ready to return just yet though, that’s not a problem. If you are a direct debit customer the easiest and quickest way to do this is through our online portal you will need your DFC reference number. The link to this is also available on our website. You will just need to select ‘make a change to your membership’. If you do not have access to the internet you can give any of our centres a call and they will be able to help you.

Safety in our facilities
 

We have implemented a number of measures to make sure your visit is both safe and enjoyable. We encourage all our customers to pre-book their activates to ensure we are managing the number of people attending at any one time and allowing for social distancing. In our centres you will find hand sanitizer stations, cleaning stations for equipment and one way routes. All of these measures have been implemented to keep you and our staff safe.

We will be notified of any outbreaks and respond accordingly. Customers testing positive for the virus or self-isolating will not be permitted to use the facilities.  

There is no requirement to wear a mask in the gym or in the swimming pools, however staff and customers must wear a mask at all other times in and around our facilities unless medically exempt.

Only fitness and weightlifting gloves can be worn in the gym facilities.

We all have a responsibility to keep our facilities safe for use. This includes not attending if you or a member of your household displays any symptoms of Covid-19. Whilst you are here please observe directional signage and social distancing guidelines. There may be some queues to enter buildings, please be patient with us we will be trying to facilitate your access as quickly and safely as possible. Please remember to use hand sanitizer stations and clean your equipment down where required. Gym towels are permitted but not to be sued to clean any of the equipment. If you are attending our classes please be aware that we are not providing exercise matts, you will need to bring your own if you want one. When leaving please follow the one way signage where applicable.


Your Aspirations Membership
 

We will be unfreezing all memberships from Monday 12 April 2021 to allow usage of our facilities. Your first direct debit will be taken in May 2021 on your usual collection date.

The Gym
 

We are encouraging our members to book their sessions in advance but this is not essential, and if customers turn up and we have enough space in the gym facilities we will allow them in, there is no restrictions on times. Those members who wish to book their slots in advance through the online booking system.

You may be expected to queue as we have limited capacity for each gym session. Please enter and exit the gym by following the social distancing signage and respecting others and their space.

The gym changing rooms will be open from Monday 17 May 2021, however we are asking that members attend the gym in their active wear and ready to exercise and minimise the time spent in changing room facilities. This also includes bringing your own water bottle, pre-filled.

We are delighted to say that the Sauna and Steam rooms located at Wellington and Oakengates will re-open on Monday 17 May 2021 and the Spa pool at Wellington should be available by Thursday 20 May 2021 – pre-booking slots for these areas is required.

Booking activities will guarantee your space and prevent wasted visits.

We are advising that the time in the gym is limited to 1 hour per customer per day to enable as many members as possible access.

Lockers will be available in the changing rooms for swimmers and the small valuable lockers will be available for health and fitness users where provided. For other activities customers will have to take any belongings with them. Coming ‘activity ready’ should reduce the amount of personal belongings you need to bring with you.

Slots can be booked online or over the phone a maximum of 3 days in advance, all slots become available from 7am each day.

Members can book multiple gym sessions throughout the week but cannot book multiple sessions within the same day. This is to give everybody a fair chance to make use of the facilities.

For pay as you go customers, our usual cancellation policy applies (minimum 24 hours notice) and refunds can be received by phoning the centre and cancelling.

Yes, our Personal Trainer will be able to provide safe, socially distanced training for their clients once the gym reopens.

No, providing separate sessions for vulnerable members would not reduce the risk of transmitting coronavirus.

No, we will not be offering on line classes from 17 May 2021.

We will not be providing exercise mats, you will need to bring your own if the class requires one. This is due to customer safety and government guidance.

Water fountains will not be available, please bring a pre-filled water bottle.

Please do not bring towels for gym or class use, we will provide paper towels and sanitiser spray.


Swimming
 

Yes you will need to book sessions for swimming and classes. Bookings can be made online.

Strict control measures have been put in place to ensure our swimming pools comply with the Government and Swim England guidance.

Social distancing rules require us to proactively manage the number of participants at all times and record users of the facility. Booking activities will enable this and guarantee your space and prevent wasted visits.

A small number of activities do not lend themselves to social distancing or other guidelines and as such have not been included within the current programme. We will keep this situation under review in line with any changes to the guidance.

Changing rooms can be sued from the 17th May but Customers are being asked to come ‘activity ready’ and to minimise the amount of time spent in these areas.

In accordance with the guidance we will be encouraging swimmers to spend as little time in the changing rooms as possible. Showers will be available for customers to wash off the chlorine only. Swimmers are encouraged to shower before arriving and at home afterwards. Facilities such as the hairdryers will not be available for use.

Lockers will be available in the changing rooms for swimmers and the small valuable lockers will be available for health and fitness users. For other activities customers will have to take any belongings with them. Coming ‘activity ready’ should reduce the amount of personal belongings. Make sure you have got a 20p coin for your locker – we will not be able to give you change from our reception desks.

Showers will be available for customers to wash off the chlorine. Swimmers are encouraged to shower before arriving and at home afterwards.

A maximum of one spectator per family is permitted. The spectator must be from the same household as one of the participants.

All swimming sessions have a maximum capacity, this varies according to the type of session. Double width lanes will be provided each of which can accommodate a maximum of 8 swimmers at any time.

Customers are asked to be respectful of other users. We would ask swimmers to permit those swimming more quickly to safely pass them at the end of a length.

If you need equipment such as floats or aids please bring these along with you, we will not be able to loan out any equipment.

Wide strokes such as butterfly are not permitted at the moment.


Block Bookings, Sports Clubs and Birthday Parties
 

All customers, clubs and groups with block bookings will be contacted individually to discuss their return in line with the Governments road map from Lockdown.

We are requesting that customers wishing to book our 3G pitches on a casual pay as you play basis contact the sites direct to facilitate the bookings .

At present we are unable to confirm when we will be able to resume Birthday Parties

Telford Ice Rink  

We are delighted to announce that from Monday 17 May 2021 we are able to further re-open the Telford Ice Rink.

Please see below the key information and changes to our programme.

These will still have restricted numbers on the Ice but can now be accessed by juniors and adults with a relevant membership.

We will therefore be unfreezing all our Adult memberships in order to allow usage to the Ice Rink. As an Adult member you will have usage in May and we will not be charging any membership fees and your first direct debit will be taken in June 2021 on your usual collection date.

If you are not ready to return just yet though, that’s not a problem. If you would like to remain frozen you will need to refreeze your membership. If you are a direct debit customer the easiest and quickest way to do this is through our online portal you will need your DFC reference number. This is listed on your bank statement or on your joining email. We will also be writing to all our members with further details of their membership including their DFC reference number. Adult disabled users can access the patch sessions but we ask that they contact and make bookings direct with the Centre and will need to show proof of their disability.

Patch and club sessions can be booked online.

Unfortunately at this time due to Government restrictions we are unable to run our tots on ice sessions, we will continue to keep you updated on this.

We can now look to re-start our adult lessons and Rink staff will be contacting adult customers confirming dates, classes and times shortly.

Public skating, the ice rink will be open for public skating from Monday 17 May 2021, customers are encouraged to book their sessions in advance to save disappointment. Please refer to our new timetable online and book your public skating sessions online.

Rules for Safe Ice Skating

Please note: that anyone feeling unwell with symptoms potentially associated with the COVID-19 virus should not attend the site under any circumstances.

Before you arrive

Please be aware of the following information before you arrive to skate:

  • only skaters who have pre-booked will be permitted entrance to the Telford Ice Rink, Where an adult is accompanying a child and spectating this is limited to one adult per child and the adult must be 16 years and over
  • please have your proof of booking ready to show staff - we will need to see this before we can let you into the session
  • please arrive 5 minutes before the session starts and follow the one way system into the Ice rink– It is important that you minimise the amount of time spent in the Boothire area
  • please follow the one way route and entrance onto the Ice Pad through the designated entry gate.

During your session

  • All skaters are required to sanitise their hands before and after the sessions.
  • You must observe social distancing and keep 2 meters apart during your skating session.
  • All skaters are encouraged to continue skating around continuously in and anti-clockwise direction at all times, maintaining social distancing.
  • All skaters must refrain from congregating in groups in the middle of the ice, standing still in and around the Ice Pad barriers and must follow the guidance and instructions from rink staff whilst adhering to signage and information displayed.
  • Before pushing off to skate check to see if a quicker skater is approaching and if so give way.  Whether stopping for a rest or catching your breath whilst skating, please be mindful that others skaters are using the ice pad  and will want to keep on skating without stopping; so keep yourself to the edge of the pad allowing others to skate by.
  • People of different skating standards and abilities will use the Ice Rink. Please respect their right to enjoy their skating session
  • Do not make physical contact with other participants.

After your session

  • Once the session has finished skaters need to vacate the ice following the directional signage through the designated exit gate.
  • Skaters are asked to put their hire skates in the collection bins provided in boot hire.
  • It is important to minimise time spent in the boot hire area.

You are respectfully requested to adhere to these conditions at all times, as the process may be monitored to ensure we are complying with the restrictions.

Anyone not abiding by these guidelines may be asked to leave the facility and future bookings not permitted.

People attending the Ice Rink and taking part in activities are reminded to:

  • follow social distancing guidelines
  • wear a face-covering where required
  • wash your hands regularly
  • if you have any symptoms - isolate and get tested
  • we all need to do everything we can to keep each other safe

Telford Tennis Centre

We are delighted to announce that from Tuesday 1 June 2021 Telford Tennis Centre will be reopening its doors for indoor and outdoor Tennis.

Please see below some key information for the re-opening.

What are the opening times for the Tennis Centre?

The Tennis Centre will open 9am – 10pm Monday to Friday and 9am-7pm on a Saturday and Sunday.


Will I need to book my courts in advance?

We are encouraging customers to pre-book and pay for their indoor / outdoor courts in advance of turning up this will ensure you are guaranteed a court.

If customers do turn up and we have courts available they are asked to book in at the Main Oakengates Leisure Centre Reception.

Those customers who wish to book their courts in advance can be made through online or if you do not have access to the internet you can make a booking by calling 01952 382810 or in person at Oakengates Leisure Centre.


Why are we being encouraged to book courts in advance?

Booking the courts will guarantee your space and prevent wasted visits.


How far ahead can I book the courts?

Courts can be booked online or over the phone a maximum of 5 days in advance.


How much will it cost to book the indoor / outdoor courts?

The pricing for the courts are: £10 per indoor court and £5 per outdoor court, this offer will run until September 2021.


Do we need to register at the Main Oakengates Leisure Centre before we go down to the Tennis Centre?

If you have pre-booked courts in advance then customers can just head straight down to the Tennis Centre and don’t need to register at the Main Leisure Centre Reception.


Can we hire equipment rackets and balls?

Yes you can hire a racket and ball for £5 returnable deposit, these can be collected from the main Oakengates Leisure Centre reception before you go down to the courts.


If I book and pay for a Court/s will I get a refund if I can’t make it?

We would encourage customers to cancel pre-booked courts if they cannot attend, this will permit other people to book courts if available. This can be done by accessing the online booking portal or by contacting the leisure Centre by phone. Do you provide tennis coaching?

Anyone interested in providing tennis coaching at the Tennis Centre must be agreed in advance with Telford & Wrekin Leisure Services.
