Customer notice: Coronavirus latest update

Due to the latest Government restrictions all of our Leisure Centres and Telford Ice Rink remain closed until further notice. Any customers who pay on a quarterly or annual cash basis will have their membership extended to compensate for the closure and will membership direct debits remain froze during this time. We are delighted that Horsehay Village Golf Centre, Telford Ski and Snowboard Centre will re-open under Government guidance from Monday 29 March 2021. Membership direct debits for these services will resume from this date.

If you are not ready to return just yet though, that’s not a problem. Please refreeze your membership.

I’m sure you can appreciate the situation we find ourselves in is constantly changing but we will keep you informed about our plans to re-open under Government guidance. Please make sure you are following us on Facebook and signed up to our email list to receive the latest news.

Your questions for when we re-open leisure facilities

We are delighted to announce that from Monday 12 April 2021 we are able to reopen our centres. We will therefore be unfreezing all memberships from the above date to allow usage of our facilities. As a member you will have usage in April but we will not be charging any membership fees and your first direct debit will be taken in May 2021 on your usual collection date.

Following the reopening of our centres in previously, we were overwhelmed by the positive feedback we received from our members as to how safe they felt in our facilities. If you are not ready to return just yet though, that’s not a problem. If you would like to remain frozen you will need to refreeze your membership.  If you are a direct debit customer the easiest and quickest way to do this is through our online portal you will need your DFC reference number. This is listed on your bank statement or on your joining email. We will also be writing to all our members with further details of their membership including their DFC reference number. The link to this is also available on our website. You will just need to select ‘make a change to your membership’ If you do not have access to the internet you can give any of our centres a call and they will be able to help you.

Safety in our facilities
 

We have implemented a number of measures to make sure your visit is both safe and enjoyable. We encourage all our customers to pre-book their activates to ensure we are managing the number of people attending at any one time and allowing for social distancing. In our centres you will find hand sanitizer stations, cleaning stations for equipment and one way routes. All of these measures have been implemented to keep you and our staff safe.

We will be notified of any outbreaks and respond accordingly. Customers testing positive for the virus or self-isolating will not be permitted to use the facilities.  

There is no requirement to wear a mask in the gym or in the swimming pools, however staff and customers must wear a mask at all other times in and around our facilities unless medically exempt.

Only fitness and weightlifting gloves can be worn in the gym facilities.

We all have a responsibility to keep our facilities safe for use. This includes not attending if you or a member of your household displays any symptoms of Covid-19. Whilst you are here please observe directional signage and social distancing guidelines. There may be some queues to enter buildings, please be patient with us we will be trying to facilitate your access as quickly and safely as possible. Please remember to use hand sanitizer stations and clean your equipment down where required. Gym towels are permitted but not to be sued to clean any of the equipment. If you are attending our classes please be aware that we are not providing exercise matts, you will need to bring your own if you want one. When leaving please follow the one way signage where applicable.


Your Aspirations Membership

We will allow customers to use the facilities on a Pay as you go basis, however, due to being unable to offer inductions at present we will only be allowing customers who have previously done this to continue to do this. We will review this as we move forward.

Our pay as you go options will still be available at the normal price, you will need to pre book activities online or over the phone.

The Gym
 

We are encouraging our members to book their sessions in advance but this is not essential, and if customers turn up and we have enough space in the gym facilities we will allow them in, there is no restrictions on times. Those members who wish to book their slots in advance through the online booking system.

You may be expected to queue as we have limited capacity for each gym session. Please enter and exit the gym by following the social distancing signage and respecting others and their space.

No, we are asking that members attend the gym in their active wear and ready to exercise. This also includes bringing your own water bottle, pre-filled.

For operational reasons we have taken the decision not to open the Health suite’s at this moment in time, and we are working on having these back open in the near future.

Booking activities will guarantee your space and prevent wasted visits.

We are advising that the time in the gym is limited to 1 hour per customer per day to enable as many members as possible access.

Lockers will be available in the changing rooms for swimmers and the small valuable lockers will be available for health & fitness users where provided. For other activities customers will have to take any belongings with them. Coming ‘activity ready’ should reduce the amount of personal belongings you need to bring with you.

Wellington Civic & Leisure Centre, Abraham Darby Sports and Leisure Centre, Horsehay Village Golf Centre, Newport Swimming Pool, Phoenix Sports & Leisure Centre, Oakengates Leisure Centre, Telford Snowboard & Ski-Centre, Stirchley Recreation Centre , Telford Town Park Visitor Centre and Telford Ice Rink.

Slots can be booked online or over the phone a maximum of 3 days in advance, all slots become available from 7am each day.

Members can book multiple gym sessions throughout the week but cannot book multiple sessions within the same day. This is to give everybody a fair chance to make use of the facilities.

We would encourage members to cancel online booking gym slots if they cannot attend, this will permit another member to book onto that slot. This can be done by accessing the online booking portal or by contacting the leisure centre by phone. For pay as you go customers, our usual cancellation policy applies (minimum 24 hours notice) and refunds can be received by phoning the centre and cancelling.

We would ask that all members give 24 hours notice for cancellations.

That is now permitted, but desirable that bookings are all done on line to guarantee a slot. 

Customers who do not have online access, please ring the facility to book your slot. 

Yes, our Personal Trainer will be able to provide safe, socially distanced training for their clients once the gym reopens.

No, providing separate sessions for vulnerable members would not reduce the risk of transmitting coronavirus.


Fitness classes
 

Until 17 May 2021 we will be offering a small amount of outdoor fitness classes based at the Phoenix Sports and Leisure Centre, you will need to book for these outdoor classes. Bookings can be made online.

Social distancing rules require us to proactively manage the number of participants at all times and record users of the facility. Booking activities will enable this and guarantee your space and prevent wasted visits.

You may be expected to queue as we have limited capacity for each class, please arrive no more than 5 minutes before your class and queue outside the door as indicated. Please enter and exit the studio by following the social distancing signage and respecting others and their space.

We will continue to offer a limited number of online classes up until 17 May 2021. Please note that all pre-recorded online classes are still available to access. Online classes are subject to change.

We will not be providing exercise mats, you will need to bring your own if the class requires one. This is due to customer safety and government guidance. 

Water fountains will not be available, please bring a pre-filled water bottle.

Please do not bring towels for gym or class use, we will provide paper towels and sanitiser spray.


Swimming
 

Yes until 17 May 2021 at the earliest you will need to book sessions for swimming and classes. Bookings can be made online.

Swimming Lessons will on Monday 19 April 2021. We will be in touch with swimming lesson customers in in due course in terms of what this means for them.

Strict control measures have been put in place to ensure our swimming pools comply with the Government and Swim England guidance.

Social distancing rules require us to proactively manage the number of participants at all times and record users of the facility. Booking activities will enable this and guarantee your space and prevent wasted visits.

A small number of activities do not lend themselves to social distancing or other guidelines and as such have not been included within the current programme. We will keep this situation under review in line with any changes to the guidance.

Customers are being asked to come ‘activity ready’, please have your swimming costume on underneath your clothing.

In accordance with the guidance we will be encouraging swimmers to spend as little time in the changing rooms as possible. Showers will be available for customers to wash off the chlorine only. Swimmers are encouraged to shower before arriving and at home afterwards. Facilities such as the hairdryers will not be available for use.

Lockers will be available in the changing rooms for swimmers and the small valuable lockers will be available for health and fitness users. For other activities customers will have to take any belongings with them. Coming ‘activity ready’ should reduce the amount of personal belongings. Make sure you have got a 20p coin for your locker – we will not be able to give you change from our reception desks.

Showers will be available for customers to wash off the chlorine. Swimmers are encouraged to shower before arriving and at home afterwards.

A maximum of one spectator per family is permitted. The spectator must be from the same household as one of the participants.

All swimming sessions have a maximum capacity, this varies according to the type of session. Double width lanes will be provided each of which can accommodate a maximum of 8 swimmers at any time.

Customers are asked to be respectful of other users. Whilst overtaking is not permitted we would ask swimmers to permit those swimming more quickly to safely pass them at the end of a length.

If you need equipment such as floats or aids please bring these along with you, we will not be able to loan out any equipment.

Wide strokes such as butterfly are not permitted at the moment.


Block Bookings, Sports Clubs and Birthday Parties
 

All customers, clubs and groups with block bookings will be contacted individually to discuss their return in line with the Governments road map from Lockdown.
