Customer notice: Face Coverings

From Thursday 24 September 2020 we are asking our customers to wear face coverings in our centres at all times other than when actually taking part in physical activity.

We are asking that staff assist by reminding customers to wear face coverings. There are exemptions to who has to wear a face covering:

  • children under the age of 11 (Public Health England do not recommended face coverings for children under the age of 3 for health and safety reasons)
  • people who cannot put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability
  • where putting on, wearing or removing a face covering will cause you severe distress
  • avoid harm or injury, or the risk of harm or injury, to yourself or others - including if it would negatively impact on your ability to exercise or participate in a strenuous activity.

Telford Ice Rink - COVID-19 updates

Important information

Anyone feeling unwell with symptoms potentially associated with the COVID-19 virus should NOT attend the site under any circumstances.

Visitors to Telford Ice Rink will now be required to wear a face covering whilst inside Telford Ice Rink, unless they meet the Government's exemption creiteria which includes:

  • children under 11 years of age and
  • those whith certain medical conditions.

Face coverings will be required to be worn at all times whilst in the Ice Rink other than when skating. The wearing of face coverings whilst skating is not essential although it is permitted.

Customers are required to wear masks in and around the facility. Customers may remove the masks while on the Ice Pad but must continue to wear them when returning skates and leaving the building.

You are respectfully requested to adhere to these conditions at all times, as the process may be monitored to ensure we are complying with the restrictions.

Anyone not abiding by these guidelines may be asked to leave the facility and future bookings not permitted.

 

Rules for safe public skating

We want to provide a socially responsible and safe environment for all visitors to the site. Please be aware of the following:

Before you arrive

Please be aware of the following information before you arrive to skate:

  • only skaters who have pre-booked will be permitted entrance to the Telford Ice Rink, where an adult is accompanying a child and spectating this is limited to one adult per child and the adult must be 16 years and over
     
  • please have your proof of booking ready to show staff - we will need to see this before we can let you into the session
     
  • if you need skating aids (penguins 5 years and under, snowman 5 yrs. +) please pre-book and pay for these in advance - we will need to see this before we can issue the relevant skating aid
     
  • please arrive 5 minutes before the session starts and follow the one way system into the Ice rink including accessing you hire skates if required from boot hire. It is important that you minimise the amount of time spent in the boot hire area once hire skates have been collected
     
  • we will not be taking shoes from customer in skate hire and lockers are available on rink side for personal belongings
     
  • make sure you have got a £1.50 coin for your locker – we will not be able to give you change from our reception desks
     
  • please follow the one way route and entrance onto the Ice Pad through the designated entry gate.
     
  • Customers are required to wear masks in and around the facility. Customers may remove the masks while on the Ice Pad but must continue to wear them when returning skates and leaving the building.


During your skate

  • All skaters are required to sanitise their hands before and after the sessions.

  • You must observe social distancing and keep 2 metres apart during your skating session.

  • All Skaters are encouraged to continue skating around continuously in and anti-clockwise direction at all times, maintaining social distancing when overtaking other skaters.

  • All Skaters must refrain from congregating in groups in the middle of the ice, standing still in and around the Ice Pad barriers and must follow the guidance and instructions from rink staff whilst adhering to signage and information displayed.

  • Before pushing off to skate check to see if a quicker skater is approaching and if so give way. Whether stopping for a rest or catching your breath whilst skating, please be mindful that others skaters are using the ice pad  and will want to keep on skating without stopping; so keep yourself to the edge of the pad allowing others to skate by.

  • People of different skating standards and abilities will use the Ice Rink. Please respect their right to enjoy their skating session.

  • Do not make physical contact with other participants.

  • Customers are required to wear masks in and around the facility. Customers may remove the masks while on the Ice Pad but must continue to wear them when returning skates and leaving the building.


After your skate

  • Once the session has finished skaters need to vacate the ice following the directional signage through the designated exit gate.
     
  • Please return any hire skates or skating aids at the identified return points which will be signposted and leave the Ice Rink following the designated one way route.
     
  • It is important to minimise time spent in the boot hire area so please return skates as quickly as possible.
     
  • Customers must wear a face mask when returning skates and leaving the building.

Rules for safe patch and club ice skating

We want to provide a socially responsible and safe environment for all visitors to the site. Please be aware of the following:

Before you arrive

Please be aware of the following information before you arrive to designated patch skating sessions:

  • only skaters who have pre-booked will be permitted entrance to the Telford Ice Rink, Where an adult is accompanying a child and spectating this is limited to one adult per child and the adult must be 16 years and over
  • due to the reduced capacity allowed on Patch and the Skating Club booking slots will be provided in 30minute sessions
  • members will be able to book 7 days in advance, it’s advised that they only book a maximum of 60 minutes (2 x 30 minute sessions) during each Patch or Skating Club block to allow other the opportunity to access the Ice
  • non-members will be restricted to 5 days advanced booking only
  • please have your proof of booking ready to show staff - we will need to see this before we can let you into the session
  • please arrive 5 minutes before the session starts and follow the one way system into the Ice rink and arrive ‘Rink Ready’, ready changed with skates on using skate guards – there is no changing provision available
  • it is important that you minimise the amount of time spent in the boot hire area
  • please follow the one way route and entrance onto the Ice Pad through the designated entry gate.

During your skate

  • All Skaters are encouraged to continue skating around the ice pad maintaining social distancing.
  • All Skaters must refrain from congregating in groups in the middle of the ice, standing still in and around the Ice Pad barriers and must follow the guidance and instructions from rink coaches whilst adhering to signage and information displayed.
  • Before pushing off to skate check to see if a quicker skater is approaching and if so give way. Whether stopping for a rest or catching your breath whilst skating, please be mindful that others skaters are using the ice pad  and will want to keep on skating and practising without stopping; so keep yourself to the edge of the pad allowing others to skate by.
  • People of different skating standards and abilities will use the Ice Rink during patch, so please respect their right to enjoy their skating session
  • Do not make physical contact with other participants.

After your skate

  • Once the session has finished skaters need to vacate the ice following the directional signage through the designated exit gate.
  • It is important to minimise the time spent in the boot hire area so please exit the rink once the session has finished.
