Newport Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre - closure update

We will now be able to re-open the pool and gym at Newport from Thursday 22 July 2021. We will be opening for the reduced opening hours below. The programme will remain unaffected during these times:

  • Thursday 22 July 2021 and Friday 23 July 2021 - 12noon to 8pm
  • Saturday 24 July 2021 and Sunday 25 July 2021 - 7.30am to 3.30pm.

Opening hours will revert back to normal from Monday 26 July 2021.

Horsehay customer notice

Friday 30 July 2021 new ICT infrastructure is being installed in our Aspirations Gym at Horsehay.

This will mean that on the morning of Friday 30 July 2021 some of the current cardio equipment at Horsehay only will be out of use while the new infrastructure is being installed inside the gym.

This is an exciting step towards us being able to install the brand new innovative PulseMove gym equipment which will help gym users track their fitness goals more accurately like distance, speed, heartrate and even create personalised workout plans.

Thank you in advance for your patience – and as always please feel free to use any of our other Aspirations Gyms during this time. We will make an update after the work has been completed.


Important information for all leisure customers

No card payments or online booking facilities on 26 July 2021 (6pm – 10pm) or 28 July 2021 (8pm – 10pm).

During the following dates and times customers will be unable to make any online bookings via our website or make card payments at our leisure centres due to ICT upgrades taking place.

This will mean that any non-direct debit customers will need to pay by cash only.

  • Monday 26 July 2021 - 6pm - 10pm.
  • Thursday 28 July 2021 - 8pm - 10pm.

Fitness classes

We offer the largest number of fitness classes in Telford with over 120 sessions per week. These are suitable for a wide range of abilities so come and give one a try. Our offer includes traditional classes as well as some of the latest fitness workouts including:

  • Les Mills body pump, body combat, body attack, body balance, RPM and SH'BAM
  • Aqua zumba and zumba 
  • vibe step 
  • insanity
  • yoga and pilates 
  • A range of other traditional fitness classes included legs bums and tums and aquafit. 

All of these classes are included in an aspirations direct debit membership.

Ab blaster

A class working on the mid section of the body, concentrating on balancing out posture, strengthening, toning and defining the abdominal area.

Activity 4 all

Low impact, fun and social circuit style activity exercise session for those who want to get more active and tone up.

Aquafit

An excellent low impact aerobic workout and muscle conditioning session, with the added fun of being in water!

Aqua circuits

This session is a series of conditioning exercises set in the water using the benefits of aquatic exercise to strengthen, condition and support the muscles.

Aqua Jog

Using the unique flotation belts, this is the latest in water aerobics. A total body workout using water resistance eliminating impact and stress on joints. It exercises your heart and lungs and boosts your cardiovascular system.

Splash your way into shape with an invigorating low-impact aquatic exercise. Known as the Zumba® ‘pool party’.

Bodyattack (TM)

Legs, bums and tums

Warm up and then tone, tone, tone! Exercises performed on specific muscle groups to tone the body.

Mature mega mix

A low impact class carried out at a gentle pace, perfect for beginners and over 50’s.

Pilates

A multi muscle workout concentrating on core strength, promoting flexibility and mobility.

This class offers a combination of step aerobics followed by an all over body tone to reach those problem areas.
