A major investment in your health and wellbeing

We're delighted to announce a major investment in Oakengates Leisure Centre, bringing improved facilities and new ways for members and customers to achieve their health, fitness, and wellbeing goals.

The refurbishment will introduce:

• Telford's first EGYM smart strength circuit
• new cardio equipment
• new strength and resistance equipment
• a bespoke functional training rig
• improved gym facilities and environment.

Whether you're new to exercise, returning after a break, building strength, improving mobility, or working towards a healthier lifestyle, the upgraded gym will provide more support and choice to help you achieve your goals.

The gym will be temporarily closed from Monday 9 November 2026 to Sunday 13 December 2026 while the improvement works are completed.

During the closure period, customers can continue to use the swimming pool and fitness classes at Oakengates Leisure Centre, as well as other facilities across the Borough.

What is EGYM?

EGYM is a smart fitness system designed to make exercise easier, more accessible, and more personalised.

The equipment automatically adjusts to suit each user and provides tailored workout programmes based on individual needs and goals. This can help people exercise safely and confidently, whether they are starting their fitness journey, returning after illness or injury, or looking to maintain their strength and independence.

Reopening

The upgraded gym will reopen on Monday 14 December 2026, offering a modern, welcoming space designed to help more people get active, improve their wellbeing and enjoy the benefits of regular exercise.
