A significant programme of carbon neutral investment work at Wellington Civic and Leisure Centre will start from Monday 23 September 2024.
The work to improve energy efficiency will include the installation of an air source heat pump, improving the swimming pool and pool surround to reduce carbon emission and improve the swimming pool environment for users at the centre.
The works will require the temporary closure of the swimming pool, health suite and changing village from Monday 23 September.
The fitness suite and fitness classes at the site will remain open throughout the duration of the works and additional daytime swim and pool based fitness classes will be available at Oakengates Leisure Centre and Abraham Darby Sports and Leisure Centre. Aspirations membership provides access to these sessions as part of the membership.
The works are expected to be completed for summer 2025.
Wellington Civic and Leisure Centre was fully refurbished in 2017, which improved and extended the fitness suite, as well as adding a purpose-built fitness studio and cycling studio.

The Wellington Civic and Leisure Centre is home to:
- 25 x 13 metre swimming pool
- aspirations health and fitness suite
- nRGIZE fitness suite
- health suite - sauna, steam room and spa pool
- 6.30am - 10pm (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday)
- 12noon - 10pm (Wednesday)
- 7am - 8pm (Saturday and Sunday)
- committee room (available for private hire and meetings)

- Larger changing cubicles for wheelchair access
- Accessible shower rooms
- Pool hoist available on request
- Wheelchair changing bed available upon request own hoist must be provided
- Easy access steps into pool

- Assistance dogs welcome
- Accessible toilet in reception area
- Adaptable resistance equipment to allow for a wheelchair
- Wheelchair accessible machines: hand cycles, bravo (cable machine) and smith machine.
- Wheelchair accessible rig and free weight area in gym.
